2026 Shinjuku Gyoen Chrysanthemum Exhibition
Admire a single bloom and the craft of an entire display, turning an autumn garden walk into close-up flower appreciation.
2026.11.01 — 11.15See the care behind each chrysanthemum’s form
The Gyoen’s exhibition continues cultivation traditions with imperial connections. Displays in the Japanese Garden use protective uwaya shelters and different training styles. This is not simply another field planted densely with flowers.
Look at the rhythm of a whole display first, then examine flower forms and stems. Gardeners, floral-design fans and Japanese-garden lovers can find more here than a quick photo stop.
Visit the Japanese Garden in daylight
Allow 45–60 minutes for the chrysanthemums, or around 90–120 minutes including other Gyoen areas. These are alternatives, not durations you must add together; adjust for your entrance and walking distance.
Understand the display, then check bloom conditions
Official dates are confirmed, but flower condition varies by date and weather. The cover evokes chrysanthemum season; it cannot tell you which display will be at its best on your visit.
Dates announced; live bloom status has not been checked on this page. Check the Gyoen’s flower updates before leaving—display dates do not mean every flower peaks together.
Before you go
Wear comfortable shoes; arriving at last entry will not leave time for a full leisurely visit.
Keep displays and paths clear when photographing. Equipment, alcohol and carried items have separate garden rules.
