Tokyo Tower: choose a height, then enjoy its light from outside
60–90 min
The 150m Main Deck keeps nearby streets, buildings and temple roofs recognisable: looking down after walking the park lets you read your day’s route again. The orange-red steel tower opened in 1958 and remains a familiar Tokyo silhouette. You do not need the most expensive package to appreciate it.
For a first visit, the MAIN DECK at 150m is a manageable choice. The TOP DECK TOUR includes both 150m and 250m; a Main Deck ticket alone does not grant access upstairs. Adult Main Deck admission is ¥1,500. The Top Deck Tour costs ¥3,300 online or ¥3,500 at the counter and already includes the Main Deck. Check the date, timed slot, meeting instructions and cancellation terms before paying.
Normal Main Deck hours are 09:00–23:00, last entry 22:30. The Top Deck Tour normally ends at 22:45, last entry 22:15, with weather or crowd changes possible. Arrive earlier in the afternoon and allow 60–90 minutes for a Main Deck visit including lifts; add meeting and tour time for the higher option. Visibility depends on the weather, so a Mount Fuji view is never guaranteed.
After returning to ground level, enjoy the tower’s illumination from a permitted public area without a deck ticket. Lighting changes seasonally and for special occasions. The official page currently lists regular coloured lighting on Mondays and Thursdays, 20:00–22:00, but check the daily calendar. Do not obstruct the underground car-park staircase for photographs: the operator asks visitors not to shoot along those stairs.
TANGO offers seasonal dining beside the tower. For a short sweet break, Mother Farm Café is on Foot Town’s third floor. Food, seating and opening hours are separate from deck admission. Return via the station serving your route; Akabanebashi and Kamiyacho are different stations.
You can see the illuminated tower from public areas; deck tickets, dining and special experiences are separate purchases.
