2026 Showa Kinen Park Cosmos Festival

Lemon-yellow flower hills and mixed autumn gardens, for travelers happy to walk and give a large park half a day.

2026.09.12 — 10.25

There’s more than one yellow-flower photo

Different flower areas take turns: yellow cosmos on Flower Hill, a mixed garden south of the open field, and cosmos with red buckwheat to the east. Each has its own viewing period. The appeal is combining flowers with a spacious park walk.

Gai Xiaomi suggests checking which area is looking good that day, then choosing your entrance and route. You don’t need aching feet from ticking off every flowerbed.

Visiting in October? Check flower updates first

The park places yellow cosmos generally from mid-September to early October and the eastern area in October, while noting effects from limited sunshine and prolonged rain. These are seasonal guides, not this page’s guarantee of current full bloom.

Include tickets and travel time in the plan

This is a large park in Tachikawa, not a little flowerbed on a Shinjuku walking route. Allow 120–180 minutes inside, plus round-trip travel. Official free-admission dates are 2026/10/24 and 10/25; parking still costs extra. Normal dates require admission.

The official event page checked on 10/6 noted limited sunshine and prolonged rain affecting some areas. This page does not claim current full bloom; consult the official Hanadayori flower updates.

Before you go

There is still a walk from gates to flowers; check the park map. Bring water, sun protection and comfortable shoes.

For a particular flower color, check that day’s update rather than assuming full bloom from festival dates.
